Suggestions (S) received from Customers and Land Registry's Response (R)

General Feature

S1: Remove the stars (*) in the entrance screen for search of land register by address.
R: The "*" placed in the "Block", "Floor" and "Flat/No." fields on the "Search Land Register" screen is to facilitate the search of a group of registers where all values of "Block", "Floor" and/or "Flat/No." are to be included.

This design also facilitates the search of a particular register when the searcher does not know the exact description of the flat. For example, if the searcher is not sure what the flat number should be, he can enter the rest of the address information but leaving the "*" in the "Flat/No." field. The IRIS Online Services will return a list of all registers on the floor of the building matching the rest of the address specification. The searcher can then choose from the list the register in respect of the flat that he is searching for.

S2: Reduce the number of directories under "Order Land Document" as we found that the downloading of some documents was slow, as there are many directories.
R: As some documents may contain many pages, they are required to be stored in multiple directories for downloading. If a searcher does not wish to deal with the multiple directories, he may make reference to the fields "no. of pages" and "estimated file size" on the ordering screen for hints on the downloading time of the document. If those fields indicate a long downloading time, he may select other delivery methods such as "By mail" or "Collection at counter".
S3: To send the ordered land register in PDF.
R: At present, the land register can be delivered in both PDF and HTML formats. Please be reminded that PDF files are larger in size and longer processing time is required.
S4: Change the layout of the Chinese address in the land register.
R: The suggestion is noted for future review.
S5: Increase the number of fax pages per document.
R: The number of pages per document for delivery by fax has been increased from 20 to 50 since September 2005.
S6: Extend the hold search so that the ordered land register can be recovered throughout the 24 hours.
R: The cut-off time of the IRIS on-line search is 02:30 hour next day. Thereafter the system has to run the night batch job effecting updates to the land registers. At the moment, it is therefore technically not feasible for IRIS to recreate an ordered land register with data of previous day.
S7: Redesign the memorial form.
R: The suggestion is noted for future review.
S8: To allow flexibility of not using the "pre-printed" memorial form.
R: The pre-printed memorial form is required for 'document tracking' purpose under the current operation. The suggestion is noted for future review.

Subscribers

S9: Increase the number of orders in each transaction.
R: For subscribers, the number of orders in each transaction has been increased from 10 to 15 in September 2005, from 15 to 20 in April 2006 and from 20 to 30 in June 2008.
S10: To fill up "searcher name" and "contact person name" automatically with subscribers' company names or department names.
R: For new subscribers, the "Searcher Name" field is by default filled with the name of the subscriber. Former DAS subscribers can apply for this feature by contacting our Search Services Help Desk at 3105 0000.

For the "Contact Person Name" field, it is purposefully left blank to allow more flexibility to users.

S11: Inform user currently in use of the IRIS Online Services any broadcast message immediately or by email.
R: The IRIS Online Services users are notified of any new broadcast messages by way of blinking of the message icon on the screen.

Since September 2005, the IRIS Online Services have been enhanced to notify subscribers of any emergency system maintenance and subsequent resumption of service by e-mail. For scheduled maintenance, subscribers will be notified by e-mail in advance.

S12: To view the daily balance statement for "Enquire Subscriber Information".
R: Subscribers can extract the information for a particular day from the monthly statement. The account balance of current day can be viewed by selecting the "Enquire Account Balance" as Service Option under the "Enquire Subscriber Information" menu. This daily balance summary is available online and updated daily. The "Balance brought forward" as seen on the summary shows the total outstanding service fee of the related account up to the previous day while the breakdown of the service fees incurred for the current day is listed below. Subscribers can also print out the daily balance summary for record purpose.
S13: To view the statement for certain date range for "Enquire Subscriber Information".
R: Subscribers can extract the information for a specified date range from the statement by date range.
